First new mix in awhile comes from me. It’s a 2 hour set from a house party that has become a bit of a Grand Final Day tradition with me and my friends. It’s more ‘party’ than ‘watching the footy’ however, with plenty of DJ’s in our group of friends there’s usually an abundance of good tunes to go along with the BBQ, beer and cries of “BALL!”
This was recorded after the final siren, and considering the time of day and level of… shall we say… excitement it’s actually not too bad – in fact it’s worthy of sharing in my opinion.
It’s in my usual genres – house, prog and electro, and it moves between them all in a not too shabby way… I think so anyhow. As one of the people who I get to ‘quality control’ my mixes said: “it’s as loose as you would expect for Grand Final Day!”

PS: I know I’ve been a but slack due to some circumstances beyond my control, but all things must pass so I’m able to get back into recording/blogging/hassling people for mixes again.

This one comes all the way from Brisbane from local up-and-comer Bart Banda. A finalist in the ITM Future Music Comp earlier this year, Bart has a residency at the Fringe Bar and plays guest spots at Chalk, GPO and The Beat. Bart’s mix comes from the warmth of Briz Vegas to help stave off the Southern winter. Here’s the mix in his own words:
“This mix was composed to battle the cold weather of July and basically telling it to go away! It starts with an electro bang and then takes you on a groovy tech roller coaster with some blended funk. There’s a lot of new releases in here with remixes of some real old skool stuff and a tribute to all Tetris fans out there. I hope you enjoy.”

Dunno about this ‘cold weather of July’ stuff; think we may need to bring Bart down to Tassie for some real cold! This mix has been on very high rotation since I got it a few days ago; the start just hooks you in (you will see what I mean) and it keeps going with some great song choices. Play it LOUD before you go out this weekend – this will be the perfect warm up for whatever you get up to!
