Mixes // NJC – Technoillogical: The Mad Scientist Mix

Hey Gang!
This mid-weekend pick-me-up comes from NJC. After emerging from his basement laboratory he sent me the mix and the following:

“Time to present the music that got me so fired up that I had to pick up the CDs, only to put them down again for the Xponent. This is a bit of an experimental mix, seeing what the software and the controller can do. I feel like I’ve only scratched the surface. Some of it seems to work, some, not so much. But it’s all interesting, funky, and (I think) cool. Please leave comments, even if you really don’t like it (actually, if you don’t like it, and can say why, I really want to hear).”

I was lucky enough to get an insight into NJC’s creative process when I was able to listen to an early version of this mix: it didn’t change too much… it was refined. Again, and I must admit it’s an advantage of running the blog that I get to listen to the mixes before I post them, I have enjoyed playing this mix a few times over the past few days. As NJC said he’s after feedback for this one, both good OR bad, so feel free to leave a comment or head over to the Facebook page and make a comment on the wall.

    NJC,

I can’t fault this mix!! Aside from a bit of volume changes early on, and a few ‘human’ errors… its fucking flawless!!

The chopping and cutting is so very very ‘techno’, and makes the mix lively and technical. The tracks transition nicely between the rolling stuff, the downright funky-arsed bumpin’ stuff, and the tribal, percussive stuff, so the set doesn’t stagnate or become too ’samey’

I do feel you need to be in the ‘mood’ for this mix (as with most ‘intense’ styles of electronica), as its hardly background music… But the louder this is played, the better it gets!! This breed of techno is so complex and percussive, that you simply ‘don’t get it’ if you try to listen to it at too low a volume.

Download this, put it in your stereo/iPod/car, and pump it UP!! If you can’t pump it up, buy the best headphones you can afford, stick your head in them, and fuckin’ have it!!

If you don’t like this mix, I wonder why you are reading this post, or even on this site!!

Oh, did I mention… PLAY IT LOUD, FARKIN’!!
